As Almost Heaven’s southernmost state forest, Panther State Forest occupies 26 acres within the 7,810 acres of the Panther Wildlife Management Area. Its heavily wooded surroundings offer a range of outdoor amenities from hiking, geocaching, scenic overlooks, to hunting and fishing. During the summer, visitors can cool off in the swimming pool or watch little ones splash in the wading pool. Picnic shelters are available to reserve and the Group Camp is perfect for family reunions and larger overnight gatherings.
Panther Creek is stocked seasonally with trout and is available to those with a valid WV Fishing License and adherence to creel limits. Panther State Forest and the surrounding Wildlife Management Area offer excellent opportunities for archery-only deer hunting. Panther is also known for the turkey and grouse hunting.
Proper WV Hunting License and adherence to season dates and bag limits are required. Mountain biking, horseback riding, and ATVs are not permitted in the State Forest or WMA. Rules and Regulations for the State Forest and WMA can be found at: https://wvdnr.gov/
